Welcome to Amy Findlay's Page

Amy Findlay

This will be my second year participating in the YSC's Tour de Pink bike ride. I was hoping to do all 3 days and 200 miles, but because of time restraints (and maybe nerves), I am just doing the one-day event, which is still an impressive ~57 miles. I believe most of you know my story with breast cancer, but if you don't, here's a quick summary:

43 years old and I received my first mammogram letter stating that I have dense breast tissue and should have a whole breast ultrasound performed. That was where it all started. I did have that ultrasound done and guess what? Yup, they found a small mass. Small, early diagnosis sounds like I hit the jackpot, but in reality, after more tests and a sentinel lymph node biopsy, they discovered that my breast cancer was actually quite aggressive and had spread to 2 lymph nodes.

So...I had a mastectomy, 6 rounds of chemo and 33 radiation treatments and now I'm on adjuvant hormone therapy for at least the next 6 years. I actually was sitting in my surgeon's office at the age of 44 years old exactly (it was my birthday) when I was told what I was up against and I have to say that over 4 years later, I'm doing great and hope that all of that is behind me. Taking a handful of pills everyday seems like a piece of cake compared to what I previously went through.

So, now I try to maintain a healthier life, exercise and participate in breast cancer awareness walks and rides EVERY year (I'd been doing walks for decades already). I'd love for you to join my Biking for Boobs team and ride with me and my "ladies" or choose to support our team by making an online donation. Below is more information on the ride, that I cut and pasted from their site. Thank you for your support!

Tour de Pink is much more than just a bike ride, it’s a chance to honor survivors, raise awareness, and support important programs for young women affected by breast cancer. I hope I can count on you to help me reach my fundraising goal!

Your donation will directly support Young Survival Coalition and ensure that no young woman faces breast cancer alone. YSC offers resources, connections and outreach so women feel supported, empowered and hopeful. YSC is the only national nonprofit that solely focuses on serving young women under the age of 40 affected by breast cancer. YSC serves over 8,000 women each year with support and education to be their best health advocate throughout all stages of breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and long-term survivorship.

Cancer can be a very isolating disease, and especially so for a young woman who may still be finishing their education, starting a career, and building her romantic and family life. YSC’s supportive services include: in-person support groups around the country, online video support groups, one-on-one peer mentoring, creation and distribution of free educational materials for survivors, co-survivors and healthcare providers, a training program for survivors to amplify the need for expanded research and advocacy, and an annual conference called the YSC Summit. Read more about YSC here:

You can view YSC’s audited financials and annual reports online here:

How will your donation help?

$25 could fund YSC materials at three healthcare providers’ offices.
$100 could provide a Newly Diagnosed Navigator to six women when they need it most.
$250 could allow us to train four survivors to serve as a peer supporters.
$500 could fund a survivor advocate in our RISE training program
$1,200 could pay for two young women to travel to the YSC Summit, an annual conference for young women affected by breast cancer and their co-survivors.

Any amount helps!

As I train for this amazing ride I plan to update this page frequently along with my social media accounts so that all of my supporters can see my progress.

Thank you in advance for your support. I truly appreciate your generosity.
