Welcome to Cathy Johnson's Page

Cathy Johnson

Greetings dear Family and Friends,

I am thrilled to tell you that, after not riding in 2017, I will, for the ninth time, join a remarkable community of women with breast cancer, their supporters and loved ones. From October 26–28, from Thousand Oaks to Point Mugu, CA I will pedal my new (more on that later) bike to support YSC’s mission to ensure that no young woman faces breast cancer alone. You know about my passionate belief in YSC, the premier organization providing supportive services and education resources for young women affected by breast cancer. With your bountiful support, I hope you will help me quickly achieve my initial fundraising goal of $3500.

Please donate today!

I ride because I can. I ride to honor all our loved ones, those surviving and those we’ve lost. I ride because your generosity allows me to.

On October 1, 2017, I was riding Babe home on a beautiful, sunny day on a flat, residential road in a bike lane with my trusty blinky lights. In a flash, a car appeared in the bike lane in front of me and I collided with it at relatively high speed. It was shocking, scary and painful. I was VERY fortunate to only sustain a lacerated lip and gum issues, bruised coccyx and lots of bumps and bruises. Sadly, Babe had to be retired because of damage. I had PTSD riding again for quite awhile, in addition to being afraid walking and driving. The experience made me realize, once again, how very fortunate I am to be able to ride to support women with breast cancer. It is life-affirming.

“Life is what you celebrate. All of it. Even its end." Joanne Harris, writer. Celebrate with me!

This summer marks four years since the death of my friend, Libby, a Tour de Pink veteran and avid supporter of the Young Survival Coalition. She was a mentor to so many. I continue to lose friends to this disease. To ride while supporting YSC allows me to celebrate and remember the women we’ve lost as well as ride in honor of those surviving with breast cancer. I am riding in support of my friends fighting for their lives with grace, dignity and hope. I’ll ride for your friends and family, too.

I know we have all been affected by cancer. Together, let’s make life a little bit easier for those with cancer. Please come along for the ride. Once again, I ask you to help support YSC, TdP and me, as we join together to support women with breast cancer.

Thank you, in advance, for your support and generosity as we dream of, and work toward, a cancer-free future.

Please make your tax-deductible donation today!

With heartfelt gratitude,
