Welcome to Michelle Larkin's Page

Michelle Larkin

This year I will ride with team (Br)East Coasters in YSC Tor de Pink, a three-day, 200 mile bike ride to support young women with breast cancer and their families. This is the 4th year that our team is riding, and each of us takes so much away from it.

Once again I am asking for your support for me, my family, and young women with breast cancer as I ride over 200 miles and fundraise for the Young Survival Coalition (YSC). YSC supports young women with breast cancer and their families, helping them deal with the physical, social and emotional issues that comes with a cancer diagnosis. YSC ensures that no young woman goes through it alone. YSC also helps young women learn about new treatment options, manage side effects, and connect to services to make life with cancer less daunting. I raise money for YSC to help others deal with their disease.

Let’s face it, cancer sucks! As a co-survivor - that’s someone who lives with someone with cancer - there are many things that I can’t do. I can't make Dawn’s disease go away. I can’t stop her disease from progressing. I can’t ease her pain from the breast cancer that has spread to her bones. I can’t take away her never-ending fatigue from the chemotherapy. I can’t prevent the side effects that come with every new drug.

But, there are things I CAN DO. I can make Dawn laugh. I can motivate her when she’s not feeling it. I can encourage her to get back on her bike after her hip replacement (oh yeah, that happened in November after her disease gobbled its way through her hip and femur head). I can help her train for the ride. And, I can ride a bike. I can climb every hill on the route – albeit slowly, very slowly. I can encourage my teammates and fellow riders. I can ride every mile. I can survive a sore butt and saddle sores. I can also raise money for this good cause. I can help Dawn and others going through breast cancer treatment and recovery. I can also donate to this good cause, which I do every year. Over the years, our team has raised over $90,000 for this cause. I have set my personal fundraising goal at $10,000 for this year. I hope you’ll help me get there.

How will your donation help?
$25 could fund YSC materials at three healthcare providers’ offices.
$100 could provide a Newly Diagnosed Navigator to six women when they need it most.
$250 could allow us to train four survivors to serve as a peer supporters.
$500 could fund a Young Empowered Survivor (YES) educational program.
$1,200 could pay for two young women to travel to the YSC Summit, an annual conference for young women affected by breast cancer and their co-survivors.

YSC Tour de Pink is much more than just a bike ride, it’s a chance to honor survivors and those no longer with us, raise awareness of and support for important programs for young women affected by breast cancer. I hope I can count on you to help me reach my fundraising goal!

Any amount helps!

Thank you in advance for your support and your generosity. I truly appreciate your both.
